OUR COMMUNITY MOVEMENT
Protect the Bellarine has been created so that the voices of the community are heard loud and clear to our decision makers. We will work to hold the State Government, leaders and decision-makers accountable for their actions, hopefully moving them to rethink what is possible.
ABOUT PROTECT THE BELLARINE
Inspiring Change
In 2019 the state government committed to declaring the Bellarine Peninsula a Distinctive Area and Landscape (DAL) under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and to develop a Statement of Planning Policy to protect the environment, landscapes and lifestyle of the Bellarine Peninsula. The statement provides permanent settlement boundaries for all townships, to protect their character, and preserves environmental features, green breaks and landscapes between towns. Whilst the Bellarine DAL has been signed off, we are still waiting to see it Gazetted, and the Government at both state and local levels be true to their word and Protect the Bellarine.
ENGAGE YOURSELF
Protect the Bellarine encourages everyone to play their part in our Community Movement. The only way we succeed is when the change comes from within, and we want to empower you to take an active role.
